About the Provider

Hello! I’m Erica Frazier, the owner and provider at Advocate Psych. My goal is to create a welcoming, down-to-earth space where you feel heard, understood, and genuinely supported. I believe meaningful mental health care starts with trust, open communication, and a strong therapeutic relationship.

I’m originally from Mississippi, and nursing is my second career. Before becoming a nurse, I spent approximately 15 years working in customer service, sales, engineering, and operations. Those experiences helped me develop strong listening, problem-solving, and communication skills that continue to shape the care I provide today. I earned my Master of Science in Nursing degree and post-master's Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) certification from Marquette University and later completed my Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) post-master’s certification at South College.

My nursing career began in critical care, where I worked across multiple ICU specialties, including Level I trauma centers, caring for patients and families during some of their most challenging moments. While physical health was often the focus, I quickly recognized the significant impact that stress, trauma, anxiety, and depression can have on overall well-being. That realization sparked my passion for mental health and ultimately led me to pursue a career in psychiatry.

Since then, I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings, caring for children, adolescents, and adults with a wide range of mental health concerns. My experience includes crisis stabilization, psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing treatment for conditions such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, PTSD and trauma-related disorders, insomnia and other sleep disorders, and a variety of other psychiatric conditions. I strive to provide care that is compassionate, individualized, and grounded in current evidence-based practices.

In addition to my clinical work, I served for four and a half years as Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the International Clinical Nurse Leader Association and worked as a Clinical Nurse Leader on a neurosurgery unit at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center. Clinical Nurse Leader training emphasizes care coordination, evidence-based practice, patient advocacy, and improving communication across healthcare teams. I have cared for patients recovering from strokes, spinal surgeries, and spinal cord injuries, experiences that strengthened my appreciation for the connection between physical and mental health. These roles helped shape my holistic approach to patient care and continue to influence how I collaborate with primary care providers, specialists, therapists, and other members of a patient's healthcare team.

I believe mental health treatment is never one-size-fits-all. For some people, therapy is the foundation; for others, medication may be an important part of the process; and many benefit from a combination of both. My role is to partner with you, provide guidance and education, and help you make informed decisions about your care. Together, we will create a treatment plan that aligns with your goals and values.

Advocate Psych was founded on the belief that quality, patient safety, and meaningful therapeutic relationships should always come before productivity. I strive to create an environment where patients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their care.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, staying active through pilates, rowing, and spin classes, and spending time outdoors golfing, fishing, and enjoying the lake. I also love cooking, watching movies, and cheering on the Marquette Golden Eagles basketball team.

Life can be challenging, but you do not have to navigate it alone. My goal is to help you feel supported, empowered, and confident as you move forward. If you are located in North Carolina, Wyoming, or Montana and are looking for compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care, I would be honored to be part of your journey. You can schedule a time that works best for you, and I’m here whenever you're ready.
